A museum ‘frames’ art, in a literal or symbolic way. ‘Framing’ and the many forms of art are celebrated in the form of this museum. The two contrasting black and white wings of the museum take their cue from their context in Helsinki where contrasts of light and dark are extreme due to the climate. The stained Finnish timber façades of the wings could be seen as canvases, backdrops for installations.
